I'm using Finale 27.4.1 on a Mac Pro.
I installed Finale 27 but it won't hold on to the changes I make to the default page. I tried support but they had me do a re-install and every time I answered them they would say that they can't see my previous responses.
Any ideas are welcomed.
Thanks,
John

Not enough info.
the better we understand, the better we can help.
What are you trying to achieve?
How are you trying to do it?
What happens when you do that?
What doesn't happen that you expect to happen?

Hey Peter'
I'm trying to design my own "Maestro Font Default" page and the changes I make don't stay. I save them properly but when I choose "New Default Document" I still get this page that has no libraries loaded even thought I have loaded and tried to save it as a "Maestro font Default" default document.

1) My first guess is that you are going to the wrong folder.John335 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 1:40 am… I'm trying to design my own "Maestro Font Default" page, and the changes I make, don't stay. What can be confusing, is that there are two different Finale folder hierarchies, with identically named folders.
One resides at system level.
This folder hierarchy is Finale’s backup for restoring its files and folders.
The other resides in your user account.
This folder hierarchy is where your Default Files (and Document Styles, and Templates) are stored.
You can see the exact path to each of these folder in
Preferences - Folders.
NB:
This folder hierarchy is located in your user account’s Library folder which may be a hidden folder.
To get there, hold down Option, and pull down Finder’s Go menu.
Because of the Option key the Library folder is listed in the Go menu.
2) When you design your Default Document, also remember to edit the default format for new pages/systems:
Document menu > Page Format > …
Finale will use the default formatting settings when creating new pages (as more measures are added to the document).
Once they are created, you can edit them individually, and deviate from the default formatting.
Finale will not change them back to the default formatting until you Redefine Pages (in the Page Layout menu).

motet,
I'm saving them;
HD>Library>APP Support>MakeMusic>Finale 27>Music Files>Default Files
USER>Library>APP Support>MakeMusic>Finale 27>Music Files>Default Files
Peter,
In Documents in the Finale Files folder is an alias of Finale 27, and the original is in USER>Library>APP Support>MakeMusic>Finale 27.
Is that normal?
Thank you gentlemen for your help, I've known of you since the Make Music Forum days.

I think I figured out my problem. The default file that I was saving was named "Maestro Font Default.musx. That was for older versions and I was wrong in naming it that. It should have named it "Finale Maestro Font Default.musx".

Take a look in
Preferences - New
Is any Finale document specified in the field
Default Document
?
If the field {Default Document} is empty, guess what Finale will use as Default Document.
Yes, you guessed it!
