GPO / Finale 2007

Converting some old files to GPO and I notice a few things that make me think I must just be making some kind of beginner's mistakes.

1) The woodwind and brass voices in VST sound like FM. They don't even sound sampled. This makes me think that perhaps the GPO voices are somehow not even being used...?

2) Playback through VST ignores all of my dynamic expressions.

I would appreciate any hints as to what these problems really are and how to fix them.
