Hi,

This may be a strange request but i was wondering if there would be a future version of Finale that can be installed in linux.... I'm worried that the future versions of finale might not be compatible with windows 98 and that's the last version of windows that i'm willing to run on my home computers.

Last time I asked about this, a month-and-a-half, or so, ago, I was told by sources likely to know that there are currently no plans for a Linux version of Finale. However, since the new MAC OS X is a version of Unix, and the Linux is a very close OS to Linux, I would expect it to be possible very soon. In the near future, I look for a Linux application which will allow a linux machine to run the MAC OS X, which will allow the use of MAC version on Linux.

Actually Finale runs almost perfectly under WINE in Linux (http://www.winehq.org

Porting it to Linux shouldn't be too hard, just recompile the Windows version with winelib. There would be a few changes to either Finale and/or winelib to get this to work, but it would be easier than porting the Mac OS version (which AFAIK is based on Carbon, so not easy at all)
