Hi, first time poster, but I've been using since NotePad '07.

I've imported a MIDI file that I played in F Major, but it only plays back in the proper key if I set the key signature to C Major.
I tried correcting using the key sig tool and "Display Using Concert Pitch", but no dice.
Obviously, this doesn't line up well. How can I correct the notation to correspond with the actual key of the song?

Welcome to the forum.

It would be best if you post the file, so the gurus can have a look.

To post a .mus file here, it must be compressed (zipped) and cannot exceed 100 kb in size.

OK, here goes. It's 54 Kb zipped, so it should be OK. Quite rough and unfinished; needs melody & lyrics, repeats, DS al coda (the coda modulates to G Major; I'll need a walk through with that one as well), etc.

While I'm at it, how can I subscribe to a forum thread (this one, in particular) to get email notices for new posts?
I'm on a few different ones, and each has a different method.

(I've never used this setting, so no promises about how well it works!)

You can't do this in NotePad, I'm afraid. First, you can only change the key, you aren't given the opportunity to hold the notes to the original pitches. Second, you can only have one key signature, so you would not be able to modulate. Third, no repeats, Coda, DS, etc.

You would need to upgrade to (at least) SongWriter, for these options. You should download the demo, and try it out. You will find LOTS of things you can do, and it's pretty inexpensive.

That's too bad, I was able to insert some of that stuff manually in NotePad '07. Maybe I should roll back to that? Still have the installer in my software folder.

Back then, NotePad was a paid app. When they made it free, they may have eliminated some features.

Rather than going back to 2007, I would start saving up for SongWriter.
