In Finale you can currently assign enough strings to a lute to accomodate a 13-course instrument. However, it becomes impossibly difficult to read the bass courses. In traditional lute tablature, ledger lines were used, and for the 11th, 12th, and 13th courses, the numbers 4, 5, and 6 were used to denote the open strings.

Without the numbers and added (partial) ledger lines, it's simply not possible to use Finale for writing out baroque lute music. This very simple addition would make the program usable for baroque lutenists.

With kind regards,

Clarelynn

It sounds like it's time for you to send a feature request to MakeMusic.

If I were you, I would add some examples of this ledger-line-notation, to make it perfectly clear what sort of layout you mean.

And don't forget to include your Finale serial number.
MakeMusic counts the serial numbers behind each request.
The more serial numbers that support a request, the higher priority, the request will get.
