On this project, my 2 clarinets and bassoon are going to be alternating between those instruments and a number of saxophones. Which I'm effecting by changing instrument where necessary. The problem is I want the entire score to always read as non-transposed. NOT "In C": I need the key signatures to always remain consistent.
When I change instruments mid-document, however, the new instrument shows up with it's standard transposition, and I can't figure out how to turn that off, regardless of what the instrument is. The Score Manager only acknowledges the opening instrument.
Further to this question, however, down the road parts will have to be extracted from this document, and those transpositions will have to be reinstated when that happens.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

I am afraid I do not understand.
In the Document menu you have the option {Display in Concert Pitch}.
If {Display in Concert Pitch} is not what you need, then could you perhaps explain what you mean?

I guess I don't understand either. You can have your score in concert and the parts transposed easily.

OK, only problem being that the octave transpositions also show at concert pitch. So my doublebasses and piccolos are not realistically readable. Is there a workaround for that so that they'll show in their proper octave transpositions but still play back properly?

In the Document Menu, make sure "Keep Octave Transposition in Concert Pitch" is checked.

Yes. I'm still testing 25 but it's much faster than any of the 2014 versions.ewindels wrote:Which is only available in 25, right, N?

That does appear to be a new feature which my version doesn't have, yet it appears in my online manual.N Grossingink wrote:In the Document Menu, make sure "Keep Octave Transposition in Concert Pitch" is checked.

The old-fashioned way to have octave-transposing instruments appear in their reading octave on a concert score was to use octave clefs. A treble clef with an "8" on top of it would be for piccolo, while a bass clef with an "8" below it would be for double bass. Make this the first clef in the staff, and make sure that the instrument transposition uses "set to clef" to make them ordinary treble and bass clefs.ewindels wrote:Which is only available in 25, right, N?
Which I suppose will answer which version of the program I'm doing this project in...
I actually still prefer this method, because it removes all question as to what octave things are supposed to be in.

@motet: very much agreed. I saw this in a score somewhere recently and was baffled by it.
I suppose there's a workaround in the Transposition menu, but I guess I'll just stick with 25 despite it's quirks.
Thanks, all.
