If you open the Handbell template, there is a Staff Style for the diamond shape notes for Hand Chimes. Enter the notes as regular notes, then apply the Staff Style to the Hand Chime staves.

You have to tell Finale (since even v25 can not read your mind).gsailors wrote:I need handbells and chimes sharing a treble and bass clef. How does Finale know which notes are for the chimes?
An idea:
Use Layer 1 for the handbells, and Layer 2 for the chimes.
In the Score Manager’s chiclet Instrument List you can assign different instruments to different layers.

I started a new selection with the Church handbell Template. The handbells are on the treble and bass clefs. If I add the chimes it goes on two separate staves.
I deleted the chime staves and entered the handbells on layer 1, and the chimes on layers 2 & 3. How do I get the chime notation to become diamond shaped?
Both the handbells and chimes utilize both clefs.

If they are in the same measure, at the same time, it is more complicated. Maybe we can see a small sample file so we can best advise.

Hopefully here's the file. Handbell notation in black. Chimes in red and gray.

I've attached your file revised with the Staff Style applied to the handchime staff. I assume the second file was the same, so I only downloaded the first.

You can apply a Staff Style to either staff, and to any or all measures. When in the Staff Tool, highlight the staff or measures, right click, and choose the Staff Style from the list. Its the last one (at the bottom of the list).
