Hi,
First, since my question is about midi tempo data, I'll start by saying that I have tried to solve this with Clear Selected Items.../Midi Data, doesn't seem to help.
Here's my problem:
I have a number of tempos scattered throughout my score, all indicated with an expression. However at certain times my playback tempo suddenly jumps to the default indicated in the human playback setting in the transport. I exported my score as a midi file and looked at it in Logic, and sure enough at regular intervals there are weird little clusters of tempo change data (for example 4 points w/in 2 beats, setting tempos such as 119.4719, 118.9452, etc.). I assume this is introduced by Human Playback, since turning that off eliminates the problem. Strangely enough I notice that this is triggered by transposing notes in one of the staves. Why can't I delete this data?
Has anyone come across this?
Thanks!

Ah right, sorry I didn't attach it initially...
Here is a section from the end. The tempo starts correctly, but drops to 120 at m. 6. The weird thing is that if I delete this excerpt from the end of my full score, it eliminates the problem from earlier in the score as well. So there's some type of data in this that is confusing the human playback engine throughout (I'm guessing).
I should mention that this excerpt was created in other software (Open Music), exported as a midi file, then imported into Finale. So Open Music seems to be stashing some kind of bad data in there, I just want to know how to find it and eliminate it.
Actually - how can I post the file? It's only 1 page, but there seems to be a 250 KB limit on attachments (mine is 380KB). Also tried posting a link to dropbox, but links are forbidden as well...
Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately even when I cut it down to 1 measure the file is 367 KB...
Not much else I can do. Thanks anyway!

Okay. So, when you are in the MIDI Tool and select Tempo, then double click on the score, does anything show up? Aldo, can you attach the MIDI file here for us to examine?

No, nothing shows up (just to be sure I'm doing it correctly: select midi tool, double click on measure, select "Tempo" from MIDI Tool menu, check all 4 layers via the dropdown). Nothing there. The problem is connected with Human Playback, and I know that Human Playback creates "invisible" midi data (or something like that, not sure how it actually works).
Here's another way for me to post the file:

dropbox.com/sh/re06p2ug9yn2uuh/AAC4rvG9kbCHtNdHBZJK77IRa?dl=0
(just reconnect the two lines, and sorry it's such a hassle!)
Thanks again for the help!

All you need to do is to modify the Standard HP setup to exclude Interpret Harmonic Cadences. HP meddles where it shouldn't.

I created a new file and copy/pasted your file into the new file, then saved it.
2 Observations:
1. The file is much smaller. I posted it here.
2. The Standard HP playback works correctly without needing to uncheck the option for Interpreting harmonic Cadences.

Originally, unchecking Interpret Harmonic Cadences fixed things. In the copy/paste process, somehow things corrected themselves. I can't say why. As far as the file size, I think the bloat may be having to do with lots of expressions in the original file. Not sure.

P.S.: Deleting all the expressions and shapes reduces the size some. What I found is that there are 3 embedded graphics. I'm not sure how to delete them, however, as they are linked to shapes. Even after deleting all the shapes, I still see that the embedded graphics are there.

Aha! Yes, I did add some graphics, which explains the file size.
Thanks again. The Harmonic Cadences thing in particular is very helpful for a variety of reasons.
