Is there a way to manually edit the text that Finale creates OR just enter it myself without having the text automatically created when creating a guitar bend? I'm trying to indicate a two-string 1/4 step bend and for some reason Finale insists on entering "1 1/2" on the lower string.

I don't think there are many who notate for guitar hanging out here. I do quite a bit, but I don't usually deal with bends.

If you want to post a sample of what you're talking about, I'd take a look at it.

Thanks FwL, here you go. It's on the bottom two staves of the 1st page. My workaround was just to move the one bend marking between the two notes, but I'd really rather have one for each note so that it's totally clear. Also, I'm using some custom staff styles so the whole piece might look a little janky on your end, just a warning.

What happens if you hold Shift and Alt down while double-clicking?

It works! Actually, just alt+double-click works. Thanks!

You're right. I thought I had tried that without success, so I tried combinations. Alt it is.

The manual says control double click is how to do it. I messed around quite a bit and couldn't get anything to work right. Good to know the correct combination.

I'm unable to get that to work with Finale 2007. Do I have to select a specific tool before alt+clicking (presumably left-click)? Do I have to click anywhere in particular?
When I alt+click on the bend, it selects the number and the bend line together.

Actually, I misunderstood the responses. The OP asks if they can EDIT the text generated for the bend, with the specific intent of writing a 1/4 tone bend. The responses do create a 1/4 bend, but they don't allow to edit the text. So, is there a way to edit the text generated by Finale for the bend (for example, change 1, full, or 1/2 to something else)?

I think that the best way is to not have bends use text. Then add it in as an expression.

The advantage of the text automatically generated by Finale for the bend is that it is positioned automatically too, and if you move the bend curved line, it moves along with it. So if that text could be edited instead of using an expression, it would be great.
That being said, in practice, 1/2, 1, 1 1/2 (sometimes larger), and 1/4 cover almost all cases encountered on guitar, and those, Finale can do.
