Is it possible to insert notes with the keyboard in Simple entry?

Scenario:
  1. I write four quarter notes in a measure.
  2. I decide I want beat 1 to contain two eighth notes instead.
  3. I use my arrow keys to go to the beginning of the measure.
  4. I press Alt+4 to change the quarter note to an eighth note.
Now I want to put another eighth note on the upbeat of 1 using my keyboard, and I'm not sure how. I can click between the notes with my mouse, but that's inelegant and annoying.

Thanks!

But unfortunately, that's the way. And I agree that it can be annoying.

It is possible to insert notes with the keyboard in Speedy Entry - without using the mouse.
But you probably already know that.

Or you can alt-4 the second quarter note as well, repitch the next two quarters if needed and retype the 4th beat.

Still not elegant, but saves you reaching for the mouse.

Well that's disappointing, but at least I won't keep wondering.

Thanks all.

Yes. You would think they would have implemented a key stroke for inserting notes between two existing notes. I guess that's where speedy comes in.
