Hello!
I've encountered this on two occasions; whenever I tried to move part of a luftpause that was in a wind quintet I was writing, if I were to move to a different part of the page to work on formatting something else, it would move back on its own! Similarly, I just used the special tool to manually switch the direction of a tie because of a split staff issue I was having formatting and every time I try to save the .pdf, it flips back! Any idea what is happening or how to make it stop? It's making my scores look crappy!

It's hard to say without seeing the part. There is a bug with articulations in certain situations appearing in a different place vertically from where they actually are. After moving them, type Ctrl-D to refresh the screen and that will show reality. If that's what's going on, it's possible to move them a little at a time, typing Ctrl-D in between, and get them where you want. I haven't seen this happen with flipped ties, though. If you want to post your file, someone can take a look.

Attached is an .xml file that you can open. The issue starts when you select print --> save as .pdf --> save to wherever. When you do, the tie in measure 12 of the cello line. If you select the special tools option and click the measure, it will flip to being correct, but when you do the save process as listed above, it reverts back to its incorrect setting.

EDIT: email me at collintarrmusic@gmail.com for the file, the forum won't allow me to attach it.

When you select the tie with the Special Tools Tie Tool, double click on one of the handles. In the window that comes up, specify over or under, depending. That should make the setting sticky.

Attach the Finale .musx file here, not the XML file.

Here's the revised file. Does the tie stay in the correct position when you open the file?

What did you do, Zuill?

Something's amiss with the notes in question. Look where the right end of the tie is in scroll view. I deleted the tie and recreated it with the same result.

I didn't see that odd position, as the original file had 12 on one system and 13 on another. With the Tie Tool in Special Tools, press Backspace to remove any manual adjustments, then press Ctr-F to flip the tie again, and the position should be fine.

I used the Speedy Edit frame to flip the tie, originally.

P.S.: Now I edited the file only using Special Tools.
