Cursor won't stay in Speedy Entry Tool

Admittedly, this is a minor annoyance, but an annoyance all the same. Often (but not always), if I've made an entry in a bar using the Speedy Entry Tool, then leave the bar, but immediately click in it again, the cursor won't stay in the bar, and the bar won't stay highlighted. Sometimes I have to click 7-10 times before it does. Here is a specific example. I enter all rests in a bar, with the intention of then double clicking on them to turn the rests into notes. However, if the cursor does not stay in the bar (for whatever reason), then I immediately try to click back in the bar, the cursor won't stay in the bar, and the bar won't stay highlighted. Does anyone else have this problem? I never did until I upgraded to my current version of Finale. As I said, it doesn't happen every time, but it does happen often. Also, sometimes a few clicks will get me back in, sometimes it takes a lot. Thanks!

I don't use speedy, but you might try Command D to redraw the screen....
Also, do you have a modal plugin window open at times?
Can't think of anything else at the moment... someone else here will know more!
Good luck,
HP.

Sounds like an inefficient way to enter music, but if the cursor doesn't say in the bar when you fill it, then you likely have "jump to next measure" set in the Speedy options. You can either turn that off, or try using the arrow keys to move back into the bar.Al Fine wrote:I enter all rests in a bar, with the intention of then double clicking on them to turn the rests into notes. Hi Motet, no, the jump-to-next-measure option is not on in these cases. The cursor doesn't go to the next bar, it just appears over the bar I'm trying to click on, but since it doesn't highlight the bar, I can't make my entries.

If you already have entries in the bar, make sure you're in the same layer as those entries.

Yes, directly on the staff, usually on the note/rest on which I'm working (unless it's off the staff, then I hit the measure dead center).
Don't know if it helps to know this, put if I single click and hold on the bar, it highlights (so if I double-click and aim well, I can input one thing). But as soon as I release the mouse, it doesn't stay highlighted. As I said, this isn't a big deal, because it's not happening every single time, but was hoping someone else had encountered and solved it. I'll pay more attention to see if I can pick up on any similarities between occurrences.

Hi Motet, I'm not sure how to go about doing that, will probably just live with this little glitch for now. As always, I appreciate your input, will seek you out if I decide to recreate the preferences file.
