I just upgraded to Finale 26 and it won't let me open any of my templates (that I labored over for many, many hours! I get this error message....

While attempting to access “Vocal + Trio template 2012.mus” the File Manager reported an error.

Finale - Error occurred. ID = -2

Try simplifying the file name to something like template.mus. This is a long shot, but try changing the suffix to .musx.

Did you copy your templates into the new version's directory? Since it's a File Manager error, sounds like it's something like that rather than a Finale problem. Make sure Preferences/Folders/Templates is correct.

Templates should have .ftm suffixes, no? Or .ftmx? So if you're trying to "Open Template" and clicking on a .mus file ... ?

He's on a Mac, so files can have the .mus suffix or no suffix at all.

Mike, if you've backed up these templates at any point in the past, try to find an older backup. It sounds like your current files are corrupt.

Could you post a template file here to see if someone can open it?

Regardless, I think it's a good idea to recreate the templates periodically, rather than continue using one from that long ago.
