Windows 7 Finale 2014.5 and 26.2

So I made the mistake of opening an old file in 26.2 and ignoring the not entirely comprehensible warning message about articulations, then deciding that I didn't need to work on the file in 26.2. Reopening it in 2014.5, my articulations are all screwed up. Is there a global fix for this? Or at least per articulation? I probably only use 4-5 different ones in the whole piece.

Try this:

Go to File Menu > Load Library. Find an Articulation Library and load that. These new articulations will appear further down the list in the articulation window, after the originals. Use Utilities > Change > Articulations to delete the original ones and replace with the new. You'll have to do them one by one.

Do you have a backup? Did Finale save a .bakx when you saved the file from 26.2?

I just did some extensive posting on this. They originally warned about stacked articulations getting messed up. But 26 changes settings for many articulations. There are more options for articulation settings in 26, and in some ways, it's an improvement, especially with articulations and layers. However, when re-opening in earlier "compatible" versions, after having opened a file in 26, some of the new numbers, which work well in 26, have been changed, so they don't look right any more.

I experimented with some procedures to get things working right under these circumstances, but replacing with ones from a loaded library might be the best approach.

I accidentally opened one file in 26 (by clicking on the file icon) and resaved, forgetting about this. Fortunately, there were no articulations in it. From now on, I will make sure I open v26 first, then open the file, then save in the 26 folder, thus leaving the original file alone. That's the only safe approach, for me.

Is there any reason why using Finale 26 (.1 — we're not on .2 yet) is a problem? I would generally use the latest version unless there was a specific need to use an earlier one, like collaborating with someone else.

Buon, you're right, 26.1. I had some memory that this was an update from an earlier 26.
