Every time I try to add a second verse of lyrics, Finale crashes. I am using the click assignment, and finale freezes after inserting the first word of verse two. I have recreated the file from scratch three times, used two different computers (Windows 7 and 10) and tried this on Finale V26 and Finale 2012c, all garnering the same results. I have attached the file. I am pretty desperate right now, as I need to do about 25 more files like this very quickly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

(Just to clarify: in the file, I am using Finale's verse 1 to display solfege and verse 2 to display the actual lyrics. The song's verse two is simply listed in a text box below, and has nothing to do with this issue. When I say "verse 2," I'm referring to Finale's designation of that within the Lyrics Window, not the song's verse 2.)

Is this what you seek to do? (See attached document.)

When you experience the problem on another computer, are you working with the same (copied) document?

I rule out file corruption by copying the music into a new document. If you post a sample of the problem in a file compatible with v2012 of Finale, I will be happy to analyze it.

Yes, the attached file is (close enough to) what I seek. I have done about 30 files like this already, but ever since this last one my streak has been halted. To clarify, I have tried the following:

Windows 10, finale 2012c
-created from scratch
-copied content into new file

Windows 7, finale 2012c
-created from scratch
-copied content into new file

Windows 7, finale V26
-created from scratch
-copied content into new file

The attached file is the original file in which this all started.

Try exporting as XML, and importing it.

See if this file behaves any better.

Okay, I'm back... 10 files later and this happened again... Beyond frustrating. I cannot figure out what is causing this. I tried the XML import that miker (and a MakeMusic employee) recommended, and while that does stop it from crashing, the formatting is so rancid that I cannot get it back to what it was. I've been at the same file for over an hour and a half and I cannot get the staff to resize appropriately. Zuill, is this what you did to correct my issue? If you did something else, I would really like to know what.

I have attached two files. The first one is the original (which crashes when I try to input lyrics). The second file is an XML import, but somewhere along the way the sizing got messed up (it's got all of the same specs as the original file, but the staves are too big).

Exporting to XML messes things up. I have a different approach. The cause of the problem is rooted in how you have things set up in the Measure Tool. I can't say which element is the precise cause, but there are conflicts that I was able to eliminate. Study the way I have ALL the measures set up in the Measure tool. Compare to your file. For future reference, duplicate my settings and you should be good to go. Don't waste your time with XML export.

P.S.: I refined my approach in the second revision. Unchecked to show left barline on a single staff in Document Options/Barlines. This means less work in the Measure Tool. Compare this file to the original revised file.

I just read about the same problem over on the Make Music Zendesk forum (I do read it occasionally). I don't contribute there due to some personal reasons. However, the cause is the same. I confirmed that by editing the file posted there. Very simple to fix. Too bad the programmers allowed the wonky behavior. If someone who posts over there directs the user here, I would be glad to comment and help fix the file.

P.S.: After further testing, the cause is not 100% the same. However, I believe I have found a workaround.
