First you need to let Finale know where the plugins located. Go to MIDI/Audio, Device setup, Manage VST Plugin Directories and add the locations.
Where are the locations you might ask? That's the rub. You would have seen the default locations during setup. I create my own VST folders, so can't help you. Sorry.
Be aware the you need to choose the 64bit versions. Kontakt thoughtfully names the 32 and 64bit the same, to help keep your life interesting.
After the folders are set, choose the Rescan for VST plugins, also on the Device setup menu.
Once you get through all that, you'll be able to select Halion or Kontakt in the score manager.

OK, let's go step by step. I don't have Halion installed, so we'll look at Kontakt.
Open Native Access
Click on the Installed Products tab on the left
Find and click on Kontakt
Click on Installation Path in the detail pane on the right
Write down the VST64 Location

Sorry, I thought I had Kontakt 5, but as I never used before I deleted.
I've got Halion from Cubase 4
Also an old Garritan

Bill, I'm lost.
Even if you don't have Halion could you tell me the steps, please, if you know?
I copied Halion sound bank.text on the sreen but when I try to open Halion sounds on Finale v26 the first screen of Halion appears but I cannot download any instruments at all.
Maybe I should look for another file within Halion?
On Cubase Halion works perfectly
