A duet for two double basses, (set up as Strings, double bass), The playback for the DB II is about 8dB quieter than DB I,
as measured on my cell phone decibel-o-meter app. I have fiddled [sic] with the Window/ScoreManager/Instrument List settings to no avail.
I do not want to mess with the various mf settings as I want to use some dynamics in the piece.
I know when we play it we can control the relative volume but, still, anyway, harrumph, harrumph.
How can I persuade Finale 26 to play it correctly?
Double bass II quieter than DB I

If you're using Human Playback, some of the settings follow a paradigm that can result in undesirable results. For example, Soften Accompaniments might be at play in your file. You can first try None for HP. If the levels seem to be the same, then you can start playing with Custom HP settings and see if the balance can be restored.

A friend (Chris Bittner - jazz sax, Julliard) suggested that I use the Mixer to control the playback volume.
Earache! It worked!
