I wish to regenerate Finale's Preferences file but cannot find the path in File Manager. Running a search for Preference was unfruitful.

Windows Explorer, not File Manager. Go to the C drive, then type finale.ini in the search box.

It should be something like

C:\Users\Djard\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2012\finale.ini

In Preferences/Folders, look for the location of Configuration Files. In Windows, even if you have chosen to see hidden folders, the Windows Search won't show those files. I'm not sure if there is a way to tell Windows to search hidden folders.

Once you tell Windows to allow hidden folders to be seen, you can find the path to the FINALE.INI file. Until then, you won't see hidden folders. The path to the .INI file has hidden folders.

Unfortunately in Mac OS the user account’s Library folder is hidden by default.

But there is a way to get there:

From the Finder, hold down Option, and pull down the Go menu.
Because of the Option key, the user account’s (hidden) Library folder is listed in the Go menu.
Path:
Library/Preferences

In the Preferences folder, look for Finale’s Preferences file.

I am not sure what Finale’s Preferences file is called,
possibly
Finale Preferences (or something like that)
or
com.makemusic.finale.fprf

On the Mac you can reset the preferences by going Command-comma. The reset button is in the lower left hand corner.

Mowing Devil -- You are using 2014.5? If so, your preferences file should be:

Finale 2014.5 Preferences

Found it and deleted. Thanks.

Now what to do about that other file; perhaps that's leftover from a previous version? Delete as well?

I suppose that you by your words “that other file” mean the file com.makemusic.Finale.plist, right?

Just ignore that file.
It IS supposed to be there.
File with the file name extension .plist (= property list) are “a Mac OS thingy”.
You are not supposed to tamper with .plist files; they are “for developers only”.

Yes, the other file I mentioned. Glad I left it alone then.
Cheers.
