Layers
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I have a layer that is basically in the bass stave, but occasionally crosses into the treble stave. The notes are in handbell notation. In the treble stave there is also regular notation. When I select staff style for those measures it changes all the notes in those measures to handbell notation.
I need that layer to remain in handbell notation.

When you say crosses into the Treble staff, do you mean on the staff above, using the Cross Staff feature? Also, handbell notes look like regular notes. Maybe we need a sample.

In the staff style definition, you can change which layers are affected.
This only works for these alternative notations, though.
You can find the staff style definition with the staff tool in Staff > Define Staff Styles…

Sorry about the incomplete post. When you define a staff style, you should get this window.
There is an option for "Alternate Notation". Select that and you should see the window I screenshotted earlier.
