Hey all,
I know about the Document option to have 8ths beamed across 2 beats or not, but I wanted to know if there's a way to tell Finale this...
1) DON'T beam 4 eighth notes together when the & of 1 is tied to the 2nd beat.
2) DO beam 4 eighth notes together when there is no tie.
See attached pic.
Thanks everyone!
David

I do not know of a Finale option for that.
Anyway, it does not take long to break the beam where needed.

any particular reason not to consolidate the tied 8th notes into quarters?

Thanks, guys.
Peter...yeah, I know it's quick but I have a long passage like this and it prompted me to ask if there was a way to bypass going back.
Michael...yeah, personal preference to see it as 8ths. Might possibly be from my formal training as a percussionist. LOL
Thanks everyone...I'll suggest to Finale for the next update.

Alas, there doesn't seem to be a "manual beam breaks" in the copy filter, but JW Rhythm copy might be of use. It might be a bit cumbersome because it only does one copy at a time, but perhaps combined with macros.

Better yet, beam the notation correctly. Finale beams by 4 eighths or 2 eighths - take your pick. Just don't do both.

you can create a sort of macro with JWChange, which will repeat a sequence of actions from within that plug-in.
This might work, then assign it to a key-bind.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that JW Change can invoke other JW plug-ins, and JW Change itself doesn't seem to address beam breaks.
Even if MakeMusic was on the ball and eager to implement suggestions, the chances of them implementing this would still be small since it's non-standard.
