Though there may be a way to create the tie using the tie tool, I've found it's easiest to use articulations for moments like these. Here's a video I made that details the process for 2nd ending repeats (it's the same process for you, though): https://youtu.be/tZ42nqAEmB4

That's likely simple entry or speedy entry. Shift-T is the command to tie into a note.
On my computer, though, that shortcut doesn't work unless there's a valid note to tie from. Maybe that's just me?
Also, if you do use the Shift-T method, then make sure you don't use Utilities > Check Notation > Check Ties feature later on. That will delete any "unneeded" ties like the one you're after.

Simple Entry is correct. T is to tie to the next note, Shift-T to the previous. This also works when you have ties into a second ending. It even plays back correctly!
Nick, are you doing it at the beginning of a staff? It doesn’t work mid-staff.

It seems to be exactly the same shortcut in Speedy and again it has to be at the beginning of a stave.

Yep, I've tried it both at the beginning of a staff and the beginning of a system. In both simple entry and speedy entry it will show up at the start of systems until I leave the tool or measure. It doesn't work at the very first measure of the piece either way.
Not a huge deal since I rarely need it, but I'd be curious why it's different for me.

Doesn't work in bar 1 for me, either. Note that in Mike's picture, it's measure 5. I guess there's no real reason to except bar 1, but why would you need it? A work-around would be to add a measure at the beginning in its own system and hide it.

Whatever works, of course, but creating an articulation and fiddling with placement and offsets seems like a lot more trouble than hiding a measure and omitting it from measure numbering (a measure attribute). I guess you can save the articulation and reuse it, though.
If you're starting your movement in a new Finale file, will the movement start on a new page in the parts?
Shift-T will work in the example in Nick's video, but if the 1st ending had ended with the same pitch as the 2nd ending begins with, then you get an unwanted tie between the two endings.
If the tied-to note itself doesn't tie forward, you can also create a forward tie and then reverse it with the tie tool.

Huh, that's a good point that I haven't thought about. No, of course, there shouldn't be a page break, which will happen with different files…
Thanks for the hint, Motet, I'll look into that.
