Hi,
I saw in a youtube video someone using Sibelius, and by selecting only a few staves could listen to those.
Is there an easy way to do this in Finale.
For the moment, I always go to the studio view and mute and solo the instruments, but that's too long !
Thanks

I've always done this using the Score Manager. All the banks/staves are displayed, whereas the mixer (unless I'm mistaken) requires scrolling among banks. With the Score Manager individual layers can be muted or soloed - I don't know if this can be done with the mixer (I rarely use it).

Here are some JW Lua scripts to help with this. I forget who I got the original from to make these. Basically you select some region with the Selection tool and then select one of the following from the Plug-ins menu.
Play Selected Staves Plays only the selected staves
Play More Staves Adds to the staves being played. This is sometimes necessary because you can only select contiguous staves at any one time.
Play All Staves Play everything regardless of selection.
Mute Selected Staves Plays everything but the selected staves.
Mute More Staves Adds to the staves being muted. This is sometimes necessary because you can only select contiguous staves at any one time.
Mute All Staves Play nothing.
I think you can actually get by with only Play Selected Staves and Play More Staves by choosing your selections carefully, but the others save a step or two sometimes.
There are some instructions here on how to get the scripts to appear in the Plug-ins menu:

Thanks very much, that seems very good.
Still more complicated than what I saw on Sibelius, but it will save me time.
I think that would be great that MakeMusic could work on this for the next update.
Thanks

You don't need to mute the staves you don't want to hear. Just solo the staves you want to hear. Easy in Studio View.guinness28 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 12:22 pmFor the moment, I always go to the studio view and mute and solo the instruments, but that's too long !
