I'm having some trouble with this attachment. The ties in layer 2 are correct but
when I try to get the ties in layer 1 to open upwards they are not consistent. What am I
doing wrong? They look OK as I edit them but then they flip when I click outside the staff. Thanks.

you have the upper notes in layer 2, and the lower notes in layer 1.
this is what is causing the conflict.
normally, layer 1 ties go up, layer 2 ties go down.

if you reverse the layers (use "move/copy layers" to get them to the correct layers) this problem should fix itself.
You might have to use "check ties under utilities.

there is an issue with measure 1, probably something got locked when you initially inserted the material in the wrong layer.
I'd just flip the tie with the special tools Tie Tool.

Thanks. Even so, they were flipping as soon as soon as I clicked outside. But thank you for
showing me the "move/copy layers."
