The notes that are covered by a slur, is it possible to adjust the strength of the legato? Same question for the notes that are not legato and don't get a staccato sign. I don't mean portato, but notes that are not connected (non-slurred). There must be programmed a small rest at the end of the note. Can I adjust the length of that rest?

I know I can do that in a DAW, but I prefer to edit the midi in Finale.

Unmarked notes are played full value.
If you want spaces, try something like Marcato,
or use the line-dot Articulation.

I'm already doing that, but I hoped there was an easier way. Thanks.

You could create a blank articulation that has the duration you want. There are several ways to apply an articulation en masse.

I seem to remember that it can be done in the Midi Tool.
There are numbers that represent the length of the notes. Entering a smaller value would shorten them slightly to make the spaces you want.

Sorry I don't remember how, but take a look, it may be easy!

you can also enter an existing articulation, one that gives the correct playback for what you want, then simply select those that you do not wish to have appearing in the printed score and "hide" them.
