I can't figure out what has changed. I made a copy of the file, the garritan instruments play back fine, but when I input a note I can't hear it in the new file.
latest mac, latest finale version
That is, the file plays back ok
but when I play a note on my keyboard, it inputs ok, it works in say, speedy entry to input notes,
but I can't hear the piano sound in my headphones at the time I play a note, I hear nothing (now) (in the old file I hear it)
so,
when I leave the old file open but work on the new file I can hear the piano as it's input, but I can't hear it when the old file is closed and just working on the new file. As soon as I close the old file, I can't hear the piano as it's input.
copy of file won't let me hear keyboard input

The "MIDI Thru" setting can specify a particular channel to play when inputting notes, and if the channels are assigned differently between the two files that would explain it. Try the "Smart" setting.

unfortunately they are the same ...
today, when I open file A (original) it (has always) "prepared regions" and then I can hear the piano.
yesterday I could just leave A open and I could hear piano input for file B)
but today, I open A and toggle to B
file B "prepares regions" (it didn't do that yesterday) and then instantly I can't hear the piano
did I see a chat session option? I'm here today, Saturday all afternoon.
