Articulation and tie - weird vertical positioning
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Hi!
Everytime I add an articulation or create a tie (or a smartshape ending) the positioning of these elements end up far off the note/staff in its vertical position. I have tried to see if there's any weird settings in the "Articulation Designer" window and/or Document Options -> Ties but the values here seem ok and changes to the values doesn't seem to have any impact. I suspect this is related to some general setting that I'm missing.... (probably something really simple). Been struggling with this for quite a while so any help would be much apreciated. I'm on Finale 25.
Cheers

1) Welcome to the forum!
2) My first guess would be that the culprit is a missing .FAN file for the music font.
What music font are you using in this particular Finale document?
Is the .FAN file for that music font present in the Font Annotation Folder?
Mac OS X 12.6.9 (Monterey), Finale user since 1996
1. Many thanks!Peter Thomsen wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 3:45 am1) Welcome to the forum!

2. Yea - this sounds very likely. I upgraded my laptop and moved the drive with Finale on it to the new laptop and then just added a new shortcut from the Finale.exe. It's working fine except for this issue... There is no Font Annotation folder in the Finale install folder (but there is one in the 2012Converter->Resources folder). I also get a warning when I open a finale file on a missing font annotation file. So - is reinstall my only option here?

Personally I would reinstall. Any reason you're reluctant to?oebb wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 4:24 pmI upgraded my laptop and moved the drive with Finale on it to the new laptop and then just added a new shortcut from the Finale.exe. In my version, the font annotations are in
C:\Users\Motet\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\Font Annotation
The installer sets up the AppData stuff. There's other per-user stuff in there as well, so there may be other things wrong that you just haven't noticed yet.
