Need castanets and tambourine. No matter, common or orchestral, I select castanets and tambourine and either hear nothing or I get all kinds of drums and stuff. I've used these in the past. Very frustrating.

Thank you.

Hard to say. It sounds like something in your setup broke. You say you've used them in the past--if you load one of those old files, do those instruments work?

You can upgrade to the latest version of Finale now for $99.

I'll check into that. Forgot about the $99 upgrade; maybe next month. By the way, I hear those instruments in Aria on the keyboard. They're just not playing in my score.

Update: I located the file with the tambourine sound. It will not open. I created that file ten years ago. Other files in the same folder play, however. I get error messages like, "not in XML format" no grammar"--have I lost my work?

If you want to attach that file here, someone can take a look.

Thank you but even here it says invalid file and will not allow attachment. I have an exported WAV of the arrangement. I guess I'll have to transcribe it back into Finale. And you know how that goes. It's like when we lost something due to crash. We can reconstruct but it never seems as good as the first time creating.

The file is a .aup.bak file.

Uploading an audio file will not solve anything, so don't bother.

OK, thank you. I just plain misplaced and lost the Finale files. Happy Holidays. Now if someone can help me get a simple tambourine sound...

Try it on a test file.
