Search results didn't dig up what I was looking for. I have a sequences of notes - and in the middle I'd like to increase the duration of a particular note. Is there a simple way of doing this without first deleting every note to the right? Ideally, I'd just increase the duration and all other notes on the right would scoot over to make room. That would be nice to know how to do - if possible.

In Windows, I hold alt and press the number for the value to which you want to change the note. I'm sure Mac has an equivalent key combination. The manual probably tells. Or, choose the value you want and click on the note with the mouse.

In the Speedy Entry Tool, position the crosshair on the rhythmical value you need to change.dstraigh wrote:… Ideally, I'd just increase the duration and all other notes on the right would scoot over to make room. That would be nice to know how to do - if possible.
Then, hit the number key for the needed value (4 for eighth, 5 for quarter, &c.).
Speedy will display a dialog box, warning you that there are too many beats in the measure.
One of the options in the dialog box is
{Move the extra notes to the next measure}
Another option is
{Keep moving the extra notes until all measures contain the correct number of beats}
which, I guess, is what you need.
N. B.
Notes in other layers will not get moved to the right.
You may have to adjust notes in the other layers in the same way.
Also, notes in other staves will not get moved to the right.
You may have to adjust them, too.

This isn't working for me. Instead of increasing the value of the note and scooting the other notes to the right and into the next measure - a note is ADDED and the other notes are moved to the right. At first I thought I could delete a note - but then how do I scoot the notes to the left?

@motet - Yes, that was the problem Speedy > Insert Notes Or Rests was selected. Unchecking this allows Speedy Entry to increase the duration of a note without adding notes. Many thanks for your help!
