I'm on a Mac. Could it be related to the recent Sonoma MacOS upgrade?

Engraver Time font now looks like this:
Finale's font selection dialog shows "The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog" in the preview pane at the top. Engraver Time only has the numbers 0 to 9, and upper and lower case C (for the Common Time and Cut time symbols).

So it's unsurprising that at 40pt, you see a row of nondef symbols. (For not defined glyphs.)
At a smaller size, you should the letter c, at least:

I'm on a Sonoma Mac, and I can select the font, and the symbols display. I wouldn't say correctly, but the font glyphs are there:

Good to hear that it works for you.

Have you seen this?

"If you rely on Finale, MakeMusic recommends not upgrading your OS to macOS 14 Sonoma just yet."

I'm seriously considering downgrading to Ventura

You'll have also seen that a Finale 27.4 update is expected to fix the problems with Sonoma.
