Hi,
I have 8 systems on my project, each of one consists in 4 or 8 bars with repeats (twice each one)
I want finale to play each system, and after play the last bar, return to da capo and make all over again, but WITHOUT repeats.
Im a little confused using the Dc al fine in the repeat tool.
Could you give me a hint on how to configure it to do what I need?
really thanks!

Your words “return to da capo” do not make sense here.drumstudio2000 wrote:…I have 8 systems on my project, each of one consists in 4 or 8 bars with repeats (twice each one)

You probably mean “return to the beginning, and play “from the top” (= Da Capo).
From your description it sounds like a “D. C. senza rip.”.
However, a “D. C. al Fine” is something else than a “D. C. senza rip.”.drumstudio2000 wrote:…Im a little confused using the Dc al fine in the repeat tool…
“D. C. al Fine” means “play again from the beginning, and stop at the word “Fine” mid-document.
In Other Words:
In the last measure I would create a text repeat with the words
“D. C. al Fine”.
In the Repeat Assignment I would set it up to jump on Pass 1.
Target: Measure #1

Hi peter, really thanks for your answer.
Ive set all like you told me but finale stops playing at the end of the score and dont return to the beginning...
There is something I am missing? Maybe on the playback control window or somewhere else?
It is as if finale didnt notice that Dc al Fine...
Thanks

You are using Finale 2010, right?
I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale 2010 .mus sample document here for the gurus to examine.
Before you can attach a .mus document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.
To reduce the file size you can clear all the notes.
We only need to see the empty measures.

I took a look at your document.
1) Since you do not have a Fine in this document, you should edit the text repeat, and change the text from “D. C. al Fine” to e. g. “D. C. senza rip.”.
To edit a text repeat, hold down Shift while double-clicking the repeat handle.
2) You have set up measure 44’s “D. C.” to jump on Pass 1.
But the last 8 measures (= m. 37 - 44) are repeated.
Hence you should set up measure 44’s “D. C.” to jump on Pass 2.

Insert a text repeat at the end of measure 8 - e. g. {Last time, jump to measure 15}.drumstudio2000 wrote:…what if after going DC I want to avoid the 3rd system (ie: jump from bar 8 to 13) how to tell that to finale?…
To make a text repeat appear at the end of a measure, choose Right Justification in the Repeat Designer.
In the Repeat Assignment for your text repeat, choose Jump on Pass 3.
Set the Target to measure 13.
