32nd note triplet nested in an 8th note triplet?

Postby bopeuph » Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:55 pm

Never come across this.

Speedy entry option can't work, since both triplets start on the same beat.

The tuplet tool can't seem to recognize the note starting two separate triplet subdivisions.

Well, it looks like I figured it out. That was weird.

Turns out, the first triplet was being recognized by the tuplet tool as simply 3 32nd notes, and left a rest at the end of the 8th triplet. So it took an extra step, but seemed to work.

With the tuplet tool, start with the inner tuplet. I clicked on the first note, picked three 1/32 in the space of one 1/8, then clicking on the first note again, three 1/8 in the space of two 1/8, and it worked.

With Speedy, start with the outer tuplet, enter the first 1/8, then (with "Insert notes or rests" OFF) back up the cursor over the note and press Ctrl-3 again and overwrite it with the three 1/32; the outer tuplet is still live, so enter the final two eighths (per Andreo Basisto, who pointed this out fairly recently).

It should be pointed out that this notation is incorrect. The inner tuplet should be notated as 16th's, not 32nd's.
