Smart Shape bracket placement

Hi, Im using version 26.1.0.484. Which Ive recently upgraded to. Ive inherited a whole world of pain as regards older files and smart shape placement, which Ill address in a later post. But for now. Im having trouble getting smart shapes to simply start and finish where I want them to on the score (namely lines and bracket smart shapes), they are constantly in different positions once I redraw the screen. The bracket smart shape doesnt appear to allow me to snap to a note, only a beat, so its utterly impossible to manually adjust them. I use cross staff notation a lot, does this effect things ? Its seems worse when I use it.... Ive also tried making a new custom bracket, with the same results. BTW, Im trying to upload png files (they are only 500kb each!!!) but the site keeps saying 'file too large'..... so you'll have to use your imaginations sadly Many thanks for suggestions.

A .png screen shot of my entire 1920 x 1200 screen with 24-bit depth (way more than needed) is only 188K, so I don't know how you're making your pictures. Make sure compression is turned on.

Are you using independent time signatures in Staff Attributes?
