Hello,
anybody familiar with crashing problems with Finale 2008, while copying large portions of music?
I'm running Finale 2008 on a PC Athlon 3800, 1.5 Ghz ram, 80oGb HD, no big score, nothing else running. I've got some parts with a lot of repeating notes, I select a portion and past it and ......, down goes finale!
Anybody??? Please????
Regards
Marcel Baars

I'm having the same problem... with the same score across SEVERAL computers. The copy/paste operation between piccolo and flute would crash the program every time. I suspect it's the same reason why -- again across several computers -- the ScoreMerger feature is totally useless, at least for me. It hangs the program at the same spot every $%^$^# time.

Well at last I found what' s causing the crash; it's copying the midi data, just disable all midi data in the edit filter menu and the problem is over, just hope this bug will be dealt with in the next update.
Red Frog Music see website for some fine chambermusic (sorry, not right now)

Everything was going just fine. Now at the last minute the copy and paste is crashing my Finale 2008 as well. At first I thought it was just one measure. Now it's happening in all documents. Is there a patch or update?
Disabling the midi functions seems to be a work around but not a solution. I'll need them. Why all of a sudden? Would trashing the preference files help?

Try clearing out the extraneous midi data from the area before you copy.
Click on your selection tool (mass edit tool for pre-2008) and then select all. Right-click on a selected measure and choose CLEAR SELECTED ITEMS - this will bring up the clear items window.
Click on the "none" button from the bottom of the window and then selected Continuous Data and Performance Data from the top right-hand column of the window.
Click ok. Test the copying.

Check out the "Item to copy" thing, if "All" is checked, you'll be copying everything and pasting everything to a section that might cause Finale to do too much thinking.

I have the exact same problem, and neither of these proposed solutions helps whatsoever. Very frustrating when trying to get a large orchestration project done!
