Software Profile: Finale 2010b, VST, SoftSynth, FX (not Master) Garritan Ambience, manual (mouse) note entry.
Hardware Profile: Chip 2.2 Ghz, RAM 2 GB, Vista Ultimate.
Issue: Playback of notes of sustained length (3 beats or more) with String Ensembles sound patches.
Despite notes being "long", the playback "bounces" or "throbs" to every beat of the tempo count, almost like a Hammond B-3 Leslie. (woom, woom, woom, woom). Particularly annoying.
Uninstalled, wiped, fresh re-install. Got new drivers for the sound card.
Tried just straight midi, different settings with the midi setup, unticked options for vibratos and what not, human playback or not. Still annoyed and it still throbs on every beat. Need advice.

Are you using a unique MIDI channel for the instrument? If the instrument shares a MIDI channel, then instrument A can play havoc with the playback of instrument B
