Finale compatibility issues

Postby MichaelTrumpetPlayer » Sun May 16, 2010 11:28 pm

I've been using Finale 2007 for years and I still like it but I'm torn between upgrading now or later.

2007c is 32 bit with Windows XP

2010 is 64 bit with Windows 7?

Will 2007 work with a new PC which runs at 64 bit?

If I end up replacing my antique PC in the near future I would like to know if I will be required to use Finale 2010 because newer PC's are 64 bit.

On a related matter -

This is for the Tehno-eeks who read these posts: Would Finale 2010 (64 but I assume) cause problems if it is installed on a 32 bit PC?

I ask because I was running - temporarily - Finale 2010 on my HP Pavilion a1412n PC which uses Windows XP Home Edition at 32 bits. I also have only 2 GB RAM.

My PC has been extremely unreliable over the past few days, freezing constantly, re-booting without any obvious cause, etc. It seems to freeze/crash most often if I'm using either Sony Sound Forge 9.1 or Finale 2007c.

Thank you kindly,

I am running F2010 on XP, SP3. I increased my RAM to 4 gigs. I don't do the GPO thing, though. I am strictly on the notation side. From what I've gathered from your posts, you would probably want to add more RAM. Going to 2010 is a great thing, too. Once you've adjusted to the new GUI, you'll never want to go back!

BTW, I sent you a PM a little while ago.
