Ok, so whenever I playback my music in Finale '11 and I want to skip ahead to a measure it doesnt let me. The forward button works but the playback doesnt, it simply goes back to measure 1. Now I checked the playback option panel and switched it to current counter setting and that seems to do the trick but when I want to restart the whole playback I have to hold the backwards button instead of just pressing stop and having it reset itself. In Finale '09 it is different and the opposite of what I just said. Did anyone encounter the same problem and do they know how to fix it?

To stop the playback, did you click the "Stop" button (icon: square), or did you click the "Pause" button (icon: 2 vertical bars)?
By The Way:
You can also "Pause"/"Start" the playback by hitting the Spacebar.

Stop square. All it does is stop at the current measure and it doesnt reset back to measure 1. Also, when I try to change the tempo from lets say 120 to 100 it doesnt play the new tempo, but the old one instead.

Does the "stop square" reset back to Leftmost Measure that is visible (assuming that Measure 1 is no longer visible)?Aspiring Percussionist wrote:Stop square. All it does is stop at the current measure and it doesnt reset back to measure 1...
Or doesn't the "stop square" reset at all so that clicking "Play" will continue playback from where it stopped (= exactly like the "Pause" button)?
This could be another issue.Aspiring Percussionist wrote:...Also, when I try to change the tempo from lets say 120 to 100 it doesnt play the new tempo, but the old one instead.
Finale will look at the recorded tempo changes first, then the expression tempo changes, then the playback controls.
And they work in a hierarchical fashion.
The tempo in the Playback Controls is overridden by an Expression that sets a tempo.
This is overridden by the Tempo Tool, which is at the top of the "Tempo Hierarchy".
Do you have any tempo expressions in the document?
Do you have any (Tempo Tool) recorded tempo changes in the document?

OK, so your "Stop" button behaves exactly like the "Pause" button.
More questions:
Are you using Human Playback?
If "Yes", then what are your settings in Human Playback Preferences?
When you click the playback button, in what "view" are you?
Scroll View? Page View?

The FastForward button has not worked normally since Finale 2008. Now, supposedly, it increases the value of the "Play from Measure...". Not quite what most people expect, especially since it worked before.

Hi everybody,
To solve this, you only have to do click in the speaker, in the same toolbar where the playback control are, the last button, and to check instead "Measure", change to "Current counter setting", and it will work as before, using the controls, pausing and playing in the same position, etc etc.
Now, I have to guess how to do this as a "default configuration", because I have to change it for every sheet that I open.
I hope that this solves your problem.
Best regards.
Luis.
