I'm transcribing some late eighteenth-century string quartets, and frequently come across semiquaver or quaver groupings which are then repeated throughout the bar. The original notation uses a slash for each repetition. Where can I find these slashes (articulations? repeats?) in Finale, and how do I insert them?
Thanks

If I understand the problem correctly, the solution is simple: the Articulation tool. Single slash - press "6" on the number pad and click on the desired note, double slash - "7", tremolo - "8"

Thanks RimasG, but I'm not talking about the repetition of a single note. For example, I have a group of four semiquavers, B flat, A, G, A which is then repeated three times in the same bar. In the original parts, they use a single slash to indicate repetition of this group of four semiquavers.

It is a staff style (Staff tool -> Apply Staff Style To -> Score and Parts -> Slash Notation) that you will apply to the partial region of the measure.
The staff style being purely graphic, to hear the audio, you first need to copy the figure and paste it to the repeated spots.
Then select the region and apply the "Slash Notation" staff style. It will hide the music behind the slashes, but it will be played.
The keyboard shortcut is S.

Thanks motet.
I've read somewhere on these forums that a single slash should be used for quavers, and a double slash for semiquavers. Using staff style, I just get the single slash. Is it possibile to get a double slash?

I suppose that you have both single slash and double slash in the same Finale document - right ?
I would use the Slash Notation staff style for the single slashes, and custom expressions for the double slashes.

I don't think there's a double slash font character, so you'd have to either use two single slashes, or make a custom shape.
I do see that sentiment in Gould. My impression is that this is just a style thing, so you might not want to worry about it. As long as what's being repeated is one beat's worth, I think a single slash is clear no matter what's being repeated.
