For a long time this forum did not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.
You had to compress the Finale document so that you got an attachment with a file name extension like (e. g.) .zip or .rar.
It is no longer necessary; now the forum accepts Finale documents.
This change is a recent change, done by Scott, the Forum Administrator.
But those of us who have been using the forum for a long time (including jose oscar), still have the old habit of compressing Finale documents before we attach them here.

I beg your pardon, Ronald,
I was afraid I couldn't attach the file if it wasn't compressed

Jose,
As Zuill suggests, you have chosen the "Double-Ended Bracket Tool" to enter your line. You should have chosen your customized line. See the below pictures. Oops! "Choosen" in the text insert should be "chosen". I didn't proof read close enough. Sorry.

RAR is another compression algorithm similar to ZIP. In fact WinZip has supported RAR files for a long time. Not sure about the built in archiver in Windows though. You can download WinRAR if desired. http://www.rarlab.com/ BTW: It supports ZIP too.Ronald J Brown wrote:What are these "rar" files you are posting? Why not post a simple .mus or .musx file that anyone here can open?

Thank you very much for your time, Zuill, Miker,Ronald, Charles, Peter, Grossingink, Motet, David, and all of you.
What I was not doing (so my mistake) is to choose my custom line and then double click on it.
Now it's all right.
Another thing that confused me is the fact that I was looking for a a bracket with a vertical graphic in my custom line, and all of them are looking horizontal, even if I deselected "horizontal".
Thanks a lot

Jose,
Deselecting "Horizontal" just means that the line is not restrained to being only horizontal. All the lines in the selection dialog box are horizontal, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are horizontal once placed in a document. It can be confusing.

Thank you all for this thread. Just today (it's almost Christmas!) I needed to do this and didn't know what symbol to use.
All you beautiful Finale and notation geeks have helped me out tremendously!
Peace in the midst of your personal Christmas storms!

one of Finale's fonts has three different sizes of bracket for this, on two sides (for left hand placement, and for right hand placement).
these can be used as articulations, which also ensures that they will space correctly.
the use of a smartshape line does not assure this placement.

Then the route is:
1. Choose the Smart Shape tool . The Smart Shape Palette appears.
2. Ctrl + click the Custom Line Tool (the bizarre asterisk in a hexagon) . The Smart Line Selection dialog box appears.
3. Choose the line of horizontal bracket
4. Duplicate
5. Edit. The Smart Line Designer appears
6. Uncheck "horizontal
7. OK
8. In Smart Line Selection Select the line that you edited (it must be only 1. Delete the rest)
9. Click on Select
10. Double-click on it to Choose your customized line (not on the "Double-Ended Bracket Tool" )
11. Draw it bottom to top to get the hooks in the right direction
