When printing in Finale v25 the print is not completely black. It looks like "economy mode" or something is turned on, but it isn't. This goes both for printing to a regular printer or printing to a PDF-file. I have never had this problem with earlier versions of Finale. Other programs, like Pages, are printing normally. Any suggestions what to do?
Thank, Anders Butenko.

I didn't find any solutions that worked in that thread. I cannot even find anything called ColorSync...

1. Make a PDF from the print menu "Save As PDF".
2. Have a look at the PDF in Preview or Acrobat: zoom in massively. Is everything nice and clean/crisp, or does the problem appear there, too?
3. Print from the PDF.
If the PDF looks ok on screen but prints poorly, then the problem is with your print settings, and not with Finale.
If the PDF looks poor on screen, then it's a Finale issue.

When I make a PDF from Finale, the problem is there in the PDF as well. So I'm sure the problem is with Finale, and not my general printer settings. I print from other programmes, like Pages or Numbers with no problem at all.

I don't have anything called ColorSync. See attached image.

That's odd, as it's built-in to OS X. I would Add a new printer queue that doesn't use the Brother print driver. Then select that before Saving As PDF.

I added the new printer as you suggested, but that didn't change anything. The PDF print is exactly the same as before. But I still think the problem somehow is with Finale and not with the computers printer settings, since all other programmes print perfectly fine, both to the Brother printer and to a PDF.

To the left is a note from a PDF made from Finale v25. To the right is a note from a PDF made from Finale 2012.

On a ‘retina’ screen, if I sit back (not too close), the notehead uploaded by abutenko14 in a PDF made from F 25 does look noticeably less black than the other.BuonTempi wrote:I can't see a significant difference between the noteheads. The only difference I can see is the shaded edge.… …

I made a ticket with MakeMusic and now after a long chat back and forth, I have received this:
"I was able to test this on a second monitor. I'm afraid that this is a confirmed bug of a different tint to the notation. I will certainly pass this along to our product managers!"
So there it is. I just have to wait.
