That capability does look very good, especially to someone who does a lot of piano fingering like me.
But the fingering in their example from Liszt's Consolation in D flat ranges from the impossible at the beginning to awkward at the end.

Almost very good, if it weren't for Finale's awkward beam slants.

Could it be that the upcoming upgrade will include auto alignment of dynamics? The possible mechanism for this appears (my guess) to be a part of the features announced thus far. Now that would be groovy. And still hoping for a fix for font handling on Macintosh when using 3rd party fonts.

I've been told that a company can't and won't reveal that much about upcoming products. That could have been fair enough, if the company understood so much better how to use its product than the users.
Still, it's fair enough in a strictly commercial sense, I guess.

Thing is, I keep adding my email address to the box in the top-right of the screen, just like they say, and I keep checking the box to say that I would like t receive marketing emails, but I don't get any emails. Given the number of marketing emails I get from which I have to continuously attempt to unsubscribe this would be funny; except it isn't. Because it seems to me that a company that can't get the most basic functions of it's IT shopfront sorted also can't be trusted to get the IT functions of its software sorted ...

About the fingering in Sneak Peek #2. The message is: even the weirdest things are possible with Finale. Just not all the not so weird things.

I do seem to get the marketing e-mails. I wonder what's making it work for me but not for you.
On tremolos, I hope they're sorting out the extreme oddity when adding a tremolo to a semibreve (whole note). Of course Jari's plug-in corrects this, but…

The whole-note problem can be fixed by duplicating the existing tremolo to make one for just whole notes, switching the position to "note side," and clearing the horizonal offsets in Handle Positioning. For some reason, they got stem/note backwards for whole notes. You might also want to tweak the vertical handle offsets. I've tweaked the stemmed-note tremolo definitions as well. JW Yaddeh-yaddeh is great but I seldom need it, only for tremolos with beams.
Whole note tremolo:

Along with that message I also get this one: we don't proofread our promotional materials because we don't have much pride in our product.

So if I'm getting this right, no matter what MakeMusic does with Finale, people will still bitch and moan?

The day MM would present some really serious development of Finale, I, for my part, would certainly not bitch and moan.
But until then I can't promise too much.

I'll bet you'd at least remark on it if a company presented an upgrade to a word processor and the document they used to demonstrate the new features was full of spelling mistakes.

1) The slur/articulation collision avoidance is nice, though the (pro) TGTools plug-in mostly takes care of that. s) For the tremolos, I'm guessing the JW plug-in is more thorough. 3) Maybe it's just the kind of music I do, but stacking a fermata and an accent or a down-bow mark is something I do extremely rarely.
These are tiny improvements; I hope there's more to the new version than these. Sibelius has been doing a more comprehensive version of collision avoidance for ten years. Also, there are some terrible bugs in Finale (e.g. the temp file thing that causes people to lose their work).

No matter what they do, x number of people will be dissatisfied. We all have our own specialties, workflows, and needs. We all have particular bugs that bite us, but few others.
Speaking for myself, the announced new features mean nothing. I’ll wait to see if anything they do helps me.

There's a discrepancy between all the suggestions made of a number of users on the Feature Request forum together with the promising responses from MM, and the tiny improvements shown in the information about v 26. That's one reason why some of us are dissatisfied.

Since they've only released a few teasers perhaps people should wait until full details are available before slamming MM.

I'm not sure about centering staccato on the stem; I hope it's optional. I think the caret ^ looks good centered on the stem, though.
