option key for tuplets not working
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I have a relatively new issue... in Speedy Entry I used to be able to type "option 3" (for example) and the small 3 would appear in the top right of the frame, making entering tuplets a breeze. This no longer works - anyone with any ideas?

Restart Finale. If that doesn't work, reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, reset the preferences file as follows:

thanks - good options but unfortunately none worked.
Option key works in some instances (i.e. dragging a copy with the Selection Tool), but not W/ the tuplet tool. Aand the shift-lock works as designed.
I may have a none-Finale problem.... I went to System Preferences > Keyboard, and clicked "Change Keyboard Type...", when prompted to press the Z key immediately to the right of the left shift key on my Apple keyboard, I received this message: You have pressed a key on your Apple keyboard. Please press the keys on the keyboard that can‘t be identified. I turned off all other bluetooth devices and received the sdame message.
huh?!?

thanks gentlemen, but no luck. Interestingly, when I turned off my Apple BT keyboard and replaced with another Apple BT keyboard, I had the exact same issue. Including the Keyboard Assistant fail.
So I tried the original keyboard on another Mac, a MAc Pro I use as a VEP Server. OS 10.13.6, Finale 25.4.0.155. And it worked fine.
So, to recap:
- both keyboards on the original iMac Pro work for everything except the option key on Finale > Speedy Entry
- both keyboards on the original iMac Pro are unrecognizable during Keyboard assistant setup
- both keyboards on the Mac Pro Server work including in Finale > Speedy Entry
any more thoughts?

In Speedy, can you reassign keystrokes (like you can in Simple?) If so, is it possible that yours was inadvertently changed?

Hallelujah! you guys inspired me to just poke around and try different key combinations, and... OPTION-CONTROL WORKS!
At this point I don't care how and why hehehe.... my workflow has been re-established.
Blessings to you both, is there a way for me to attach a 6 pack of Guiness for each of you? I'll try holding option-control as I click the Attachments button...

From Google:
The Macintosh offers a key labeled Control (or, on laptops, “ctrl”), but it isn't the equivalent of the PC's Ctrl key. The Mac's Control key is primarily for helping you “right-click” things, as described earlier. Instead, the Macintosh equivalent of the Windows Ctrl key is the ⌘ key. It's right next to the space bar.

That's correct, but it only works on the Mac's numeric keypad, AFAIK.

Could be. I don't use Speedy. In Simple, it's either numpad 9 (for default tuplet) or OPT 9 (for not the default.)
