F 27 overwrote F 26 on Mac
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Hi,
A friend just downloaded F 27 on his Catalina iMac, and it replaced F26.
I thought many Engravers here had multiple versions, depending on what their Clients may have/need.
Is there any way to prevent F 27 from replacing F 26?

When installing Finale 27, you are asked if you want to delete Finale 26, or leave it alone. Tell your friend "haste makes waste".

Open the Applications folder.
Create a new sub-folder inside the Applications folder.
Give the sub-folder a name - e. g. Older Finale.
Move Finale v26 into the sub-folder.
When you install Finale v27, it will not replace Finale v26 because v26 is not in the Applications folder (but rather in a sub-folder).
You can still launch v26 - it will launch just fine, even if it is in a sub-folder.

Yeah, be forewarned. For those who just click through all the installation options without reading them, one of the options, that is turned on by default, is to delete Finale 26. Pretty dumb for a default setting if you ask me. But they didn't...
